Byaruhanga Dennis, that is my name. Serving as the High School coordinator, I am serving under the Student Led Movement department. Out of my parents' five children, I am the last born. I learned to trust education from an early age, believing that if I could only work hard and have a good education, I would succeed in life. Unfortunately, I didn't do as well as I had hoped in my O- and A-level, so I had to do a university course that I didn't particularly enjoy—the Bachelor of Adult and Community Education program at Kyambogo University. In midst of that our father abandoned us and returned to the village, leaving us to live with our mother. This truly made me feel resentful and angry toward my father. My personality was greatly impacted by this because I became depressed, angry, and lost hope that I would never be able to make up for something in my life. I went to a Christian youth camp in 2011 during my S.6 vacation at the invitation of my older brother. On December 31, 2011, I made the decision to give my life to Christ there. After surrendering my life to Christ, I made the decision to start a journey of spiritual growth, mostly by becoming a member of a LIFE Ministry Kyambogo University chapter. There, I received discipleship, support in overcoming my bitterness and anger toward my father, and a newfound sense of hope.
I love working in student led Movement because I believe that when I change a student I have changed a future leader. There is optimism a student transformed in the likeness of Christ there more hope we will have not only a better Uganda but a better Africa. This how the world is gradually changed for Christ.
