Ssemaganda Douglas Martin

My name is Ssemaganda Douglas Martin. I am married to Ritah Ssemaganda and are blessed with 1 baby girl; Kwagala Elizabeth Joy. Ritah and I serve on the Student-Led Movement Team. Though born into a religious home, I grew up struggling with low self-esteem, poor choice of friends, and disobedience to school authorities and my parents. The repercussions of this created resentment, loneliness, purposelessness, and a void in my heart. In August 2011, I joined Kyambogo University as a new student. In a bid to look for new friends, I came across a group of students who had gathered, and during the meeting, one of the students shared a brief message under a theme: BEHOLD A NEW THING (Isaiah 48:18-20).

He emphasized that without Christ, it would be hard to have a purposeful life at the university. I made a decision to accept Jesus as my Savior and Lord. I was later helped to grow in my new faith through discipleship classes, evangelical missions, training, and leadership conferences. I developed a passion for reading and implementing God’s Word in all spheres of my life, and my parents and friends observed and appreciated the transformation. In 2014, as I was about to graduate from university, I attended a National Students’ Conference organized by LIFE Ministry Uganda, and I heard the Lord challenge me to join full-time ministry. I responded positively to the call of God and joined the staff team. I love helping young people grow in their faith and have a meaningful life.
